Driving Change Through Inclusion and Social Innovation

Wastepreneur.id is an incubator focused on empowering underrepresented actors in Indonesia’s waste value chain—such as waste pickers, waste banks, and recyclable material collectors—who are often categorized as part of the informal sector. We believe these actors play a vital role in enabling a circular economy, particularly within the recycling ecosystem. Our mission is to enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of Indonesia’s waste management ecosystem through market-driven approaches and behavior change—by supporting those already working within the value chain.

Our Flagship Program

Basic Waste Management

Learning about the fundamentals of waste management covers topics such as waste classification, the recycling value chain, opportunities and gaps within the value chain, potential workplace hazards, and preventive measures.

Gender, Health and Safety

Identifying potential workplace hazards and their prevention, gender-based violence (GBV) and its prevention, as well as gender and business

Basic Business

It is essential for the informal sector to understand fundamental business principles, including basic entrepreneurial competencies, risk-taking, negotiation, social enterprises, financial management, SWOT analysis, and the development of a Business Model Canvas.

Empowerment

Empowerment must begin from within. Therefore, the BBEST training program includes topics such as: “Myself and My Friends,” “Tree of Life,” “Doubt and Uncertainty,” “Reframing Doubts,” “Core Beliefs,” and “Managing Failure.”

Leadership skills are also necessary for running a business, which include: personal behavioral change, leadership and vision, developing a vision and vision network, setting SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound), being proactive vs. reactive, and creating an action plan.
